Thanks to OOPA members educating their legislators, our Advocacy Team taking days away from their practices to testify, and countless hours of advocacy, and the leadership of our legislators….
1. Take required discounts on materials that are not covered by the insurer.
2. Use their out-of-state labs.
3. Participate in other low reimbursement plans as a condition of participating in your primary plan.
With 80% of Oregon patients insured by these major vision plans, it was mission critical that OOPA advocate for fairness in contracting and level the playing field to keep lab business in Oregon.
Now that we’ve all achieved that together – and the even harder work of implementation begins.
Effective January 1, 2016, all new vision plan contracts must adhere to the new law. In this increasingly complex business world of managed eye care, ODs MUST review all contracts to which you sign your name.
What’s the bottom line lifetime benefit of this major legislative victory to your practice and profession? $100 a month? $200 a month? $300 a month? My guess is it’s quite a bit more. The February legislative session promises to be an even bigger fight to hold our ground on this and other bills affecting your bottom line.
Please invest in your profession RIGHT NOW by making a celebratory monthly contribution of $100 per month to OOPAC continue to fight for your practice.
If you are not yet a member of OOPA, this legislation, as well as OOPA’s other advocacy work, helps you. Please…return the favor. Help OOPA continue our efforts to promote, protect and advance the professional practice of Optometry in Oregon. Become a member today.
